The Irish team to play against the Scottish Veteran Ladies for the Mary McKenna Perpetual Trophy on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 April at Cruden Bay has been announced. It is as follows.
Irish Team
Valerie Hassett (Ennis)
Marilyn Henderson (West Rhine)
Helen Jones (Strabane)
Mary Madden (Ballinasloe)
Violet McBride (Belvoir Park)
Sheena McElroy (Grange)
Mary McKenna (Donabate)
Pauline Walsh (Headford)
Scottish Team
Lynne Terry (Captain), Pamela Williamson (Vice-captain)
Heather Anderson (Downfield)
Lorna Bennett (Ladybank)
Fiona de Vries (St Rule)
Jill Harrison (Cruden Bay)
May Hughes (Lanark)
Fiona Hunter (Baberton)
Mary Smith (Tain)
Kathleen Sutherland (Royal Montrose)
There are two new faces in the Irish line-up compared to 2008 these being Helen Jones and Pauline Walsh, replacing Nano Brennan, Carmel Cahill, Pamela Morgan and Eileen McMullen when the Irish rather surprisingly produced a team of ten. Sheena McElroy is probably more familiar to everyone as the former Sheena O'Brien-Kenney.
The format after a practice round on the Friday, will be four ball on Saturday and singles on Sunday. Scotland are the holders of the trophy. Cruden Bay Golf Course will be a very worthy venue for this competition. Click here to read more about Cruden Bay.
Good luck all.
