MATCH VS BORDERS VETS

Report from Captain Marjory Lauder resuming the match vs the Borders on Wednesday 10th September.

                        ESVLGA  versus The Borders.

Members of both  Teams before the match.

                                  A wonderful day at Liberton.

The Captain  welcomed both teams to Liberton Golf Course and everyone enjoyed coffee and scones. The players were introduced and the format agreed.
At Torwoodlee in 2013 the PLAYERS 'voted 'to play Greensomes Matchplay as an alternative to Foursomes!
The Captains had  already agreed to try this again.
The East pairings were all new combinations, many not even knowing their partners beforehand.
All the players were full of praise for the course. On such a perfect day everyone appreciated the condition of the course and the interest it offered without too much length and few hills!
The Borders 'Captain, Janice Cambridge, thanked the East for their hospitality and said how much their team had enjoyed their day.
The East Captain wished  them all a safe journey and looked  forward to visiting the Borders next year.

The East won the Match 4 games to 2. (Photos link here)

Many thanks to Maureen Stewart who stepped in at the very last moment ( 8am) as Gina Thomson succumbed to a very bad cold.

We had a well earned 'late lunch' and set off home before the rush-hour.

Viv Mitchell and Marion Law  lost to Gloria Smith and Sheila Horsburgh 1 hole
