This annual scratch team match which is played out for the Elise Duncan Trophy has been a very successful affair for the ESVLGA in recent years and I am pleased to say this year the run of wins continues.
I can assure you however the West Captain May Hughes is very determined to win this one back next year at Lanark Golf Club.
Result is 6 ½ matches for East to 2 ½ for West
Anne Hanson won 3&1 v Gillian Kyle
Jennifer Bryans won 5&4 v Liz Stewart
Caroline Steedman won 2&1 v Lesley Lloyd
Dawn Young lost 1dn to Lorraine Campbell
Ann Sewell sealed a half v Donna Jackson
Susan Rennie won 7&6 v Alyson Hendry
Barbara Biggart won 5&4 v Joanne Sharp
Lesley Johnston lost 3&2 to Roz Purdom
Margaret Whelan won 2&1 v May Hughes
A couple of standout performances were, very obviously,
Susan playing par golf for a very comprehensive win.
Anne H has figured out the further away she is with an iron the more likely she will hole it. Eagle 2 from 154yds at the 9th and holed at the 12th from 133yds having had a penalty drop out of a bush! Ann S produced a dogged fight back from 3 down for the half point. Thank you to all our players for an outstanding result.
The two most heartening things I observed were how all 18 players gave their best efforts for their team, but all matches were played competitively with fun and friendship at the core.
Our thanks go to all at Longniddry Golf Club who were an absolute delight. Thanks to Ann Sewell for making the arrangements with the Club for a super day out for all.
