RESULTS OF THE BRIGHT, BREEZY BUT  BITTERLY COLD  SPRING MEETING
No weather delays, hardly any call-offs and the 2013 Spring Meeting was played over Gullane No. 3 as scheduled on 9 April.  Eighty five ladies teed off  and some shook off  the winter’s rust better than others.  Gullane No 3 posed quite a tricky challenge with fast running greens leading to more than a few three putts and a few de-greenings (as the TV commentators call  putts that run off the green). Judging approaches to greens, especially when playing downwind and over greenside bunkers, was certainly not easy whilst the aforementioned bunkers proved card-wreckers for a number of players (don’t ask the Vice-Captain!).
As ever, some players defied the weather and treachery of greens and bunkers to post not just respectable scores but positively good ones! Very well done to those ladies mentioned below for their good scores.
Overall scratch winner :            Elinor Blair * 77

Other  silver scratch scores :   Lesley Johnston*  79
                                                Noreen Fenton   80

Away players (i.e. non-members of Gullane Ladies) will be delighted to learn that their CSS is Reduction Only so no increase to your handicaps for today’s round.

The CSS for members of Gullane increased to 71 proving that at least for a few players there was some home advantage! (Gullane members marked with an asterisk above)
Finally well done to the eight ladies who recorded twos on their cards: Janet Fairweather, Linda Grieve, Alice Jack, Kate Johnston, Christine Simpson, Dorothy Thomson, Ros Thoresen and  Maureen Woodward.
