Blairgowrie – 25-27th September 2022

What a fantastic year for Karen Ferguson-Snedden. Having won the Scottish Senior Championship and representing Scotland at International level she ended the season by winning the Scottish Veteran Ladies Championship at Blairgowrie on Monday 26th September.

On Sunday Karen won through to the semi-final defeating Anne Wilson – Galloway. Monday morning saw Karen advance to the final over Anne Smith – Highland.

In a very close match with Martine Pow – Borders,  Karen eventually won 2/1 to become the Champion.

It was also a very good competition for the East Division with Val Mackenzie (72), Francis McFadzean (72) and Tricia Smith (73) winning (and retaining) the Lyon Trophy for the best 3 nett scores from a Division. West was pipped at the post by one point.

Added to this Anne Brownie (73) won the Allen Plate for best scratch score in the over 65 category for a second year.

Well done to Jennifer Bryans and Anne Brownie who won the Toni Moffat Quaichs for the best scratch score (76) in the Tuesday Greensomes for the second year running.

Congratulations all round. Well done East.

Scottish Seniors win Home Internationals

A combined team of Scottish seniors achieved history at Pyle & Kenfig GC in
Wales, by winning the inaugural R&A Women’s & Men’s Senior Home
Internationals trophy.

The women’s team included Karen Ferguson-Snedden, Karen Marshall
and Wendy Nicholson. What an achievement! Well done, ladies, we are
proud of you.

This was the first time combined teams have competed for a trophy to honour
the best side in British and Irish senior golf. England took the Sue Johnson
Trophy for the 11th time as winners of the Women’s Senior Home
Internationals, while Scotland earned a bonus as victors of the Men’s Senior
Home Internationals for the fourth time. Both championships were run
concurrently with the combined team competition. Scotland topped the points
table with three points out of three. Ireland finished second with two points,
while England came third with half a point as the Welsh finished fourth.
Amazing victory.

“It feels amazing,” said Fiona de Vries, the overall Scottish captain. “It’s been
a fantastic team effort from start to finish. It’s been an amazing experience.
We’ve all got on really well together, we’ve had fun and we’ve played great golf."
