The sun decided to come out just as we arrived at Elie GC for our match against the British Senior Men’s Society.
Welcome drinks were enjoyed by all as we met some new as well as some well kent faces from the past. Everyone was in good spirits as the rivalry started with some negotiations over handicaps due to a couple of last minute adjustments. An excellent lunch was had by all.
Anne R, Captain for the day was on a mission to change our record for this year! (Anne was still reeling from our 6/0 defeat in 2019!)
As always, the course was in fantastic condition and the views across the Forth forever stunning. The weather was good if a bit breezy towards the end of the matches and all matches were played in very good spirit.
As the results came in I could not contain my delight as it came down to the last match. Kate and I played 1st match and were 3 down at the turn. We managed to close the gap and surprisingly, halved the match on 18th due to a fabulous putt by Kate.
Ann & Pam and Lesley & Norma had very close matches taking their games to the 17th and 18th.
Caroline & Kate and Mairi & Julie won their matches soundly, with the men complimenting them on being demon putters!
Due to unforeseen circumstances, Anne Blundell played her match against John & Nigel on her own and ended up halving her match on 18th.
Not only had we won some matches, we halved the overall team match – a superb result!
The day was finished off with tea and scones in the clubhouse.
Our appreciation and thanks to Andrew Gray and the British Senior Men’s Society for their hosting and planning of a very enjoyable day.
Thanks also to Elie Golf Club and their caterers.

We had our first team match of the season at Ladybank GC versus Midland Vets on May 5th.
All of our team, win or lose, had a thoroughly grand day out.
Many thanks got to Pat Bow and her host team, all at Ladybank GC for the course set up and all catering before and after the match.
Well played all of our team for gaining a halved match. Just unfortunate that this meant we had to once again leave the Liz Miskimmin Friendship Quaich in the hands of the Midland team as they hold it from their last win back in 2019.
Result was
Margaret Tough won v Lesley Johnston
Linda Dyball won v Barbara Biggart
Dorothy Ford won v Mairi Pollock
Fiona Johnston halved with Anne Brownie
Shelagh Quinn lost v Dulcie Barnes
Tricia Chillas lost to Louise Casey
Joyce Murdoch lost to Jenni Ray
Many thanks to Anne Brownie for acting as Captain for the team on the day. Very much appreciated and a grand job you did too.
