The winning Midland Team are all smiles in their team photo below whilst there are happy faces all round in the picture of both teams which, as ever, lived up to its name of the Friendship Quaich.
The winning margin was 4 to 3 with some great golf being played on both sides - tales of holes halved in birdies in the clubhouse afterwards! Turnhouse Golf Course was in lovely condition and the weather was kind to us. Some players did find the breeze a little tricky at times whilst others got a little closer to the beautiful blossom on the many flowering trees than they might have wished! Sadly for our East Vets team, home advantage did not work out well for us and the Liz Miskimmin Trophy has gone north of the Forth after four years in East hands.
The individual game results were as follows (East names first):
Susan Penman (Gullane Ladies) won 4 & 2 v Kay Knight (Pitlochry)
Anne Brownie (Gullane Ladies) won 3 & 2 v Elsie Hutchison (Ladybank)
Hazel Saunders (Gullane Ladies) lost 2 & 1 to Aileen Baker (Crail)
Carol Brown (Mortonhall) lost 3 & 2 to Dorothy Ford (Scotscraig)
Ruth Brown (Mortonhall) lost 6 & 4 to Sarah Walker (Braehead)
Dawn Young (North Berwick) won 2 up v Fiona Hill (St Regulus)
Dulcie Barnes (Gullane Ladies) lost 4 & 3 to Tricia Chillas (Stirling)
Eagle-eyed readers of this blog will note that the East Vets team sheet shows several changes (due to injury and illness); with both reserves already having been called up by Sunday evening, Captain Anne Brownie had to draft herself into the team meaning that Vice- Captain Caroline Kinnaird was left to take photos of the occasion.
