PRIZES & FRIENDSHIP AT AGM/LUNCH

THE PRIZETABLE AND SOME OF THE MAIN PRIZEWINNERS  IN 2013

The 2013 East Vets Prizegiving and AGM were held at Murrayfield GC on 18th November, followed by a lovely buffet lunch.  The trophies ready for presentation and some of the main prizewinners are pictured above.  Anne Hanson, East Vets Champion is in the centre with Dulcie Barnes, winner of the Ramsden Cup for the Hole and Hole, to the right of Anne (as we look) and Christine Reid, winner of the Beddows Trophy to her left. The inaugural winners of the summer knockout foursomes, Helen Holton and Jean Bryden, are also pictured. Trophy winners who had made their apologies were Christine Clarke (Rosebowl Winner), Maureen Sharpe ( Senior Salver) and Elinor Blair (Wallace Williamson Trophy).

Other trophies on display included the Liz Miskimmin Friendship Trophy which was won by the East in our match vs Midland Vets and the Asp Trophy (pictured to the left) which the East regained in the annual foursomes match against the West.  Presented by Asp Robertson, the Amiticia Semper Palma (ASP) inscription means "friendship always the prize" which aptly describes the spirit in which the match is played. Asp was delighted to present her Trophy to Anne Brownie who had captained the victorious East Team at Troon.  This photo is included in the picture gallery  which can be seen by clicking  here for more photos

The business proceedings of the 40th AGM, held at Murrayfield GC, went very smoothly and a full report of the AGM will be minuted and circulated in due course.

Two matters arising from the 2012 AGM were dealt with: these were the suggestions of holding a winter social and introducing  a knockout foursomes. The Committee propose a coffee morning with short talk (10-15 minutes)  and golf quiz in February 2014 and this was approved by the meeting. This will be at Craigielaw GC on 19th  February; further details to be confirmed on this Website and by email.  The inaugural foursomes knockout was held in 2013 and proved very popular with 25 pairs participating; as a result of its success, this competition will become an annual event.

Finally, remember to look at your East Vets website closer to Christmas for information on events in 2014.
