Congratulations to Fiona Hunter on her win today to become the Scottish Seniors Matchplay Champion. (Yes, the same Fiona Hunter who was an East Vet until her move back to her roots in Dumfries & Galloway !)

SCOTTISH SENIORS AT WEST LINTON UPDATE
Anna Telfer of West Vets and Milngavie GC won the Scottish Seniors Strokeplay Championship at West Linton Golf Club in a nail-biting conclusion to the second round when it was not clear to spectators whether a play off might be required. A super birdie two at the 17th hole ( into the wind making it play a lot longer than the 179 yards on the card) clinched the title for Anna - who still had to hold her nerve for a par up the last to win the title from Heather Anderson by one stroke. Congratulations to Anna who finished on a gross aggregate 155 (the CSS was 74 on both days in tough, windy and often wet conditions). Many congratulations to Anna from the East Vets.
Anna is pictured above receiving the trophy from Elisabeth Nombro, West Linton Lady Captain.
Amongst the prizewinners was Pamela Williamson who won the over 60s scratch aggregate - congratulations Pamela!
The Matchplay Championship takes place over Thursday/Friday with Pamela Williamson the sole East Vets representative in the main Championship. The very best of luck to Pamela and to those East Vets who qualified for the net flight of matchplay : Karen Ballantyne (defending the title she won last year), Barbara Biggart, Elinor Blair, Rita Dee, Anne Hanson, Frances McFadzean and Morag Wardrop.
One of the great traditions of the Scottish Seniors Championship is the Seniors' Supper which was held on Tuesday evening. This is a great opportunity for competitors to socialise away from the golf course and entertain/be entertained at the post-meal "cabaret". Compered by Liz Munro, there were contributions from the host club in the form of the West Linton Warblers plus Pete McNab (alias Chic Murray who had the audience wiping tears from their eyes in helpless laughter). Other contributors included Karen Maxwell, Sandy Bushby, May Hughes, Anne Brownie, Agnes Freeman, Morag Clapperton. A lot of laughter at the wide range of humorous topics gave jaw muscles and tear ducts a good work out! Here's a link to photos taken at the Seniors Supper Click here Enjoy!
